Description

Cause you and I, we were born to die

122 x 92 cm
Acrylic on Canvas

Have you ever lost someone you love and wanted one more conversation, one more glimpse, one more chance to make up for the time when you thought they would be here forever?

Often, we get too caught up with the destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we met on the way, only to find ourselves living a life of regret.

Here, the loving embrace serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and that however hard and however long we love someone that has passed away, they can never love us back. We should cherish the people that are still with us and never take them for granted as there will be a time where we will have to bid them farewell, cause you and I, we were born to die.

To answer the initial question: Not yet, fortunately.

But the following two paragraphs are on my mind constantly, ever since our children were born. It made me understand my parents better. I suddenly know how much bad they had to endure to be rewarded with the good. I suddenly feel regret for the times when the bad was completely avoidable from my side.
But I am immensely happy that they are still around so I can make it up to them.
And now I have a generation "above" and "below" me (as well as a wife by my side) that mean everything to me, and I want to make each moment count.

Thank you for this piece that is excellent in both execution and depth of meaning.
